Who We Are

As Chairman of CAER, I'd like to welcome you to our website.  Here you will find a great deal of information about our committee, community outreach, mutual aid, and events. We have been proud of our many years   and manhours of dedicated service to industry and the community!
..
In 1985, several Ascension Parish Chemical Companies joined forces, brought together by their desire to educate area residents about the industry’s function in the community. The result was the 16-member Ascension Parish Chemical Industry’s Community Awareness Emergency Response, or CAER, Committee.   The 15 chemical company representatives, and the Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness that made up CAER, comprised a program designed to inform the community about the  chemical industry, what it manufactures, and what chemicals are used in the plants. Since its beginning, the CAER Committee has been actively involved in providing the Ascension Parish community with new and up-to-date information about chemical emission, inventories  and emergency procedures.

Today there are over 30 industry members of CAER and public safety representatives attending including fire departments, Sheriff's Office, State Police, the railroad, the Coast Guard, the State Fire Marshall's office, the Office of Homeland Security, the LEPC, the Ascension Parish HazMat team, and others.  All have the same goal:   protecting Ascension Parish Industry, its citizens, and it's employees.

Please enjoy our new site and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
